We recommend the two beautiful and historic towns of Harrogate and Knaresborough for your stay which are both close to the venue. There are plenty of hotels, B&Bs and pubs with rooms at a variety of price points in these towns.
Central Harrogate, where most of the hotels are, is about a 15-20 minute drive from Goldsborough Hall. Knaresbrough is about a 10 minute drive from Goldsborough Hall but is a smaller town with fewer hotels.
Here are some of our Harrogate recommendations:
There are a number of ways to get to the local area by rail, car or flight, depending on where you are coming from. Below are some recommended routes for travel to Harrogate from various locations.
If you are staying in Knaresbrough, it’s a very short drive or taxi ride there from Harrogate.
1. Train from London
If you fly into London or you live there, there are direct trains from Kings Cross to Harrogate. To get to Kings Cross from an airport in London, you can take the underground / subway.

If you have the time and opportunity, renting a car is a brilliant option as you can explore Northern England before or after the wedding. Here are some places you may want to visit:
Knaresborough
Knaresborough is a warren of medieval streets and stone staircases that weave their way up and down the hill. The town centre is perched on the cliffs above the River Nidd and the imposing railway viaduct across the Nidd Gorge offers a great view.
Harrogate
Harrogate is a beautiful Victorian spa town with a rich history, from being an epicentre of medieval markets to a base in WW2. It is surrounded by lots of parks and green space, has great opportunities for shopping and spa-breaks and has the highly recommended afternoon tea spot ‘Betty’s’ (a firm favourite of the Montgomerys.)
York
York was founded by the ancient Romans and has a big Viking past as well, as the capital of Viking territory in Britain. Today it has lots of historical sites to visit (York Minster is a must), independent shops and plenty of really great restaurants inside the medieval city walls.
Yorkshire Dales National Park
The Yorkshire Dales lies north-west of Harrogate and is a national park of rolling green hills, millions of sheep and wonderful hiking trails. The town of Hawes in Wensleydale has the ‘Wensleydale Cheese Factory’ which makes some of the cheese we’ll be serving at the wedding and does a good behind-the-scenes tour of the cheese making process for visitors!
Lake District National Park
A bit further of a drive, on the west of England, but really worth a visit if you like outdoorsy activities like sailing, kayaking, camping and hiking in a mountainous, lake-filled landscape.
